At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. In total, we are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!
We are looking for migration officers for the detention center in Flen.
With us, you will work on current societal issues that are influenced by what happens in our surroundings. Issues that concern and engage. We offer a dynamic environment characterized by meeting people and continuous learning.
In a detention unit, individuals who have received a rejection or expulsion decision are placed and need to be available for enforcement. A person can also be detained if their right to stay in the country or identity needs to be investigated. The detention center is a closed unit, and operations are conducted around the clock. The operations must be designed in a legally secure, safe, and dignified manner with a focus on the individual. You can read more about what it is like to work in a detention center here (https://www.migrationsverket.se/om-migrationsverket/jobba-hos-oss/jobba-pa-forvaret.html).
What does a migration officer do?
As a migration officer, you will handle, investigate, decide, and propose decisions in various types of cases. The decisions have legal effects for individuals and affect their rights to benefits, rights, and obligations. Additionally, you will work with administration where you manage files and documents that have been received or created in a case.
In your role, you will meet and have conversations with individuals who have cases with the Migration Agency and other stakeholders. The conversations may involve informing about decisions or providing information about the Migration Agency's processes as well as guiding and providing service. You identify and address any special needs of individuals and, where applicable, hold conversations with adults and children in vulnerable situations.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who has good collaboration skills, is attentive, and resolves conflicts constructively. You are clear in your communication and ensure that messages are conveyed and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. Furthermore, you are service-oriented and accommodating in your interactions with both colleagues, applicants, and other stakeholders.
You are also structured and can independently plan and organize your work effectively towards set goals and deadlines. You are flexible and can easily adapt and change your perspective and approach when circumstances change.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a strong awareness of security and confidentiality.
To apply, you should have:
- A university degree of at least 120 credits in law, social sciences, or behavioral sciences, or other education combined with relevant experience for the role
